The exact time for Olympic flame to reach Mt. Qomolangma, the world's highest peak, is based on the weather conditions, said Yang Xingguo, the meteorological team leader at Rongbo Monastery Base Camp.
At present, the weather in Tibet is changable and complicated due to the tropical storm from the Bengal bay on the southern slope of Mt. Qomolangma, moving towards northeast.
38 workers from the meteorological bureaus in Tibet and Gansu have been divided into 4 groups responsible for covering the weather. The meteorological team have installed domestic first-class high-tech observatories on Mt. Qomolangma to ensure timely weather information. At the height of 8,300 meters above sea level, it's possible to generate seven days weather reports, and only three-day precise weather forecast.
