 BOCOG official: Olympic flame pictures on Mt. Qomolangma untrue |

The news on Internet that the Olympic flame has set off for the Mt.
Qomolangma was untrue, said Shao Shiwei, vice head of the News Department of
Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) on the
3rd press conference of the news center of Rongbo Monastery base camp on April
30. "In the morning, I heard that some Chinese media showed pictures of the Olympic torch relay activity on Mt. Qomolangma. After investigation, it has been confirmed that the pictures are inauthentic," said Shao, "In fact no such activities have happened and we have stressed more than once that no starting ceremony would be held for the Olympic torch relay on Mt. Qomolangma." "The exact time to set off is not decided yet," Shao Shiwei added. |
