The development of Internet in Tibet is amazing. In 2000, there are only about ten Internet bars in Lhasa, but now, you can find this kind of bars almost in every street in Lhasa. All around the city, there are more than 100 such public places, in which you can take advantage of Internet to connect with people from every corner of the world. In University of Tibet, you can find personal computers in not few dorms. College students can dial to use Internet 24 hours a day. Internet is more and more an indispensable part of lives of new Tibetans. Many Tibetan young people are Internet fans. Demanded by the development of the era, failing to use Internet will be a kind of new illiteracy in the modern society. The most important thing is, get more knowledge and better understanding of the world.

The Internet has provided students with easy access to outside information and is one of the amazing windows for Tibet young people to view the fascinating world outside. It's almost same exciting for you to feel the breeze from the plateau as Tibet young boys and girls to explore the world at the other side of the great snow mountains.

As society develops, educators have begun to pay much attention to the internet education. China's People's University and the Tibet Financial School recently launched an internet school in Tibet, as an important driving force to promote education in Tibet. As part of efforts to develop China's Western Regions, distance-learning plays an important role in promoting education, and economic and social development in China's western regions.

Based in the computer classroom at Tibet Financial School, over 100 students are enrolled to study specifically through the internet. People's University provides multimedia teaching, which enables the students to see the teachers' teaching and if they have any questions, discussions or chats on the internet between students and teachers are arranged every week.

The class is mainly aimed at adults and the courses are all vocational -- practical subjects relating to their work. Thus the teaching level is equivalent or even higher than that given to the full time students, especially in relation to their thesis because they have practical experience.

Tibet has set itself a challenging target -- to popularize the 9 years compulsory education by 2010 and eliminate illiteracy. Now many schools have been installed with computers and learning computer has become popular.

In the famous Saga Monastery, a lot of computers have been used. The visitors can find the history and relics of the monastery through the computers. In addition, they are also used in selling the tickets.
